RE: Kindergarten Start-up Procedures

We are excited that your child will begin his/her learning as a student of Promontory Heights Elementary! In August you will receive a letter with information about class times and the tentative placement for your child. We hope you are enjoying your summer with family and friends and we look forward to meeting you and your child in early September.  In order to make the transition from home to school as comfortable as possible, several activities will be taking place during the first two weeks of September.

OPENING DAY - Tuesday, September 2, 2008
If your child has been placed in the morning class, please drop in at your child's class between 8:30-9:00 AM. If your child has been placed in the afternoon class, please drop in at your child's class between 9:15-9:45 AM. During this time you and your child will meet your child's teacher and see the classroom.  You will receive a home visit package and schedule. If the time scheduled for your home visit is not suitable for you, another time can be arranged.

HOME VISITS - Wednesday, September 3 - Monday, September 8, 2008
Where possible, home visits will be arranged by street addresses in order to reduce the amount of travel time and thereby allow the maximum time with you and your child.This home visit time (approximately 20 minutes) is set aside for the teacher and child to become aquainted.

MINI SESSIONS - Tuesday, September 9, 2008
Children will attend for a one hour session with half of the children in session during each hour.This will provide an opportunity for small group orientation and introduction of school routines and expectations.You will be informed of your child's time during the home visit.

FULL ATTENDANCE - ALL STUDENTS - Wednesday, September 10, 2008
