First Day of School - Tuesday, September 2

The first day of school is Tuesday, September 2nd, at 8:25 am. Please note that students will be dismissed at 9:30 am. Please take note of the following routines that will be in place for the first day (Tuesday, September 2nd)

Upon arrival to school parents and students are asked to go to one of the information boards, which are located on the Basketball Court, and the Primary Entrance paved area) that detail the routines for day one.

All students who were in attendance at Promontory Elementary during the 07/08 school year will go to the classroom they were in last year. If you chose to escort your child to class please drop them off and return at 9:30 to meet them outside at your pre arranged meeting area. This will allow the teachers/students the hour to focus on details needing attention. It also helps to keep the hallways clear.

Last year's Kindergarten children who attended this school and are now going to Grade One will be led to the gymnasium by Mr. Gemmell. Parents are asked to meet their child for dismissal in the gym at 9:30 am..

Newly registered students to Promontory Elementary will be led to the gymnasium by Mr. Krajnyak. Parents are asked to meet their child for dismissal in the gym at 9:30 am.

School supply lists are available at the school office, as well as our school website. School supply lists have been given to Staples, Wal-Mart, and Zellers.

Welcome to a new school year! I am very excited about the new year. Just like you, I get nervous and excited about coming back! I think about all the things that need to be done so the school is ready for you! Coming into school after the summer holidays and seeing how clean the school is makes me remember when I was your age. Meeting new friends, getting new school supplies, meeting my new teacher are all things I can still remember. I hope this will be a great year for you. You have important things to do. Learning is fun, exciting and sometimes hard. Learning to read, write and work with numbers are things you need to do. You will have lots of time for fun. You will also have times when you must work hard. Try your best. This is a great school and you will help it to be this way. You are one of the Many "STARRS" at this school. Welcome back for the 2008 - 2009 school year at Promontory Heights. This year will offer you many exciting opportunities to meet new friends, spend time with old ones and take part in many activities to learn and play at our school. I encourage you to take advantage of all the opportunities provided and make the most of your school year. The teachers, staff and parents at our school are all here to help ensure you are successful. Your teacher will always do what is needed to help you to succeed but as students, you need to give your best effort. For those in Primary we need your help by reading with your parents every night for at least 15 minutes. For those of you in intermediate, that means completion of homework in addition to nightly reading. By working together, you will have the best year possible.
